Veteran actor Wang Wei (Wong Wai) passed away at age 70 on November 15th in Hong Kong from stomach cancer. His daughter, Stephanie Wong reveals on Weibo that her father had already had a low-profile burial and is resting in peace. Yesterday she expressed over the phone: "My father left peacefully. The family was very grieved and couldn't bear to see him go. Of course my father also didn't want to go, but all along despite having stomach cancer, he still had the willpower. (Did he have any special wishes?) My father is a Buddhist, he had always wanted to spread Buddhism."
Stephanie's boyfriend Wong Wai Tak was rehearsing at TVB City and said: "Wei Gor (Wang Wei) passed away due to having stomach cancer, he personally is very low-key, everyone respected his decision and that's why we didn't let so many people know about his death. The only people that know are close family and friends. The day before, we held the funeral in Hong Kong and then for the cremation."
Wong Wai, real name Wong Wing Wai was born in 1939 (Stephanie confirmed her father is actually born in 1941). Also in 1971, Wong Wai married famous fashion model of the 70s, Ho Mung Na. In 2002, he retired and immigrated to Toronto, Canada, where he raised two sons and a daughter. His daughter, Stephanie Wong, participated in the 2003 Miss Hong Kong contest and entered TVB.
