TVB JSG breaks rules and lets no contract Bowie Lam's song on the charts

Bowie Lam is not a TVB contracted artist anymore, but his new song Youth Ignorance, the sub theme of TVB series When Heaven Burns in which he performed with Moses Chan and Kenny Wong, have been so popular it is being sung from the streets to the alleys. The one line: "If, fate can decide" already sang out the hearts of viewers. Earlier the song already won Netizens' choice in an online awards presentation, but unfortunately the song is still neglected by its 'own people' TVB and did was not part of the 'JSG Awards'. Some Netizens criticized that Youth Ignorance deserved the 'Gold Song Gold Award' more than Raymond Lam's CHOK!

Producer admits too late for promotions

Although Youth Ignorance had no fate with the JSG Awards, but on the January 6th JSG Charts, the song was discovered on the top 5! JSG (or TVB) had always only accepted contracted singers, but Bowie Lam is considered an exception since he has no contract with them and still made it on the charts. Reporters contacted JSG producer (Mak Jan Dung) about the issue and he admitted they have broken the rules. He said he will only allow the song to be on the charts for one week: "We shouldn't be too sensitive because the recording had already been scheduled three weeks ago to help promote for When Heaven Burns. (The series is already done broadcasting!) It is indeed too late." In fact, Youth Ignorance had already broke into the Chik Chak 903 Top 20 list early last month, which proves TVB is a slow as lard!

Regarding TVB breaking the rules for him, Bowie laughed and said he's considered unprecedented then. He also thanked TVB in a criticizing way: "I really don't know what village, what rules, but this proves there is a turnaround. It is a good thing. (Said they wanted to help 'When Heaven Burns' promote!) The series ended, promote what?! Everyone knew when the series ended." He reveals he will not sign a contract, but will still shoot TVB series. When asked if he'll participate in War and Beauty II? He expressed Miss Virgina Lok invited him before, he will still have to reserve time on his schedule, but no one came to follow up with him, therefore he will not care about it anymore.

As for Moses Chan, he attended a 2012 opening ceremony for Season of Love and when asked about Raymond Lam's song CHOK getting the 'Gold Song Gold Award'? Moses laughed: "I don't know how to CHOK, I just know Youth Ignorance."

When the public felt pity Youth Ignorance didn't get any awards, the song suddenly makes it on JSG charts. Kenny Wong said over the phone: "Thanks for letting the song be on the charts and get acknowledge. I hope When Heaven Burns can release a soundtrack too."

Charmaine Sheh won't say TV King/Queen to avoid offending people

Yesterday Charmaine Sheh, Bowie Lam, Moses Chan, Kenny Wong and Angela Tong attended the promotional event for TVB new series When Heaven Burns, which is finally airing after two years. Currently shooting in Mainland, Charmaine rushed back to Hong Kong to take part in the promotion. As Charmaine has already switched to a 'per series' TVB contract, it was not required for her to participate in the TVB Anniversary celebration held the other night, so she was able to celebrate with her mother on her 60th birthday. Charmaine said: "This is the first time I didn't have to be in the TVB Anniversary, no need to worry about fixing my hair and the makeup. It feels special. Since I was celebrating my mother's birthday, I wasn't able to watch the TVB Anniversary."

This year, Charmaine is nominated for TV Queen depended on her role in My Sister of Eternal Flower, but she won't be able to attend the TVB Anniversary Awards held on December 5th. However, she is scheduled to return to HK on December 6th to take part in good friend Toby Leung's wedding, she will serve as one of her bridesmaid. Regarding her absence in the TVB Anniversary Awards, Charmaine expressed TVB is not that sensitive and Toby had already asked her to be part of wedding half a year ago. Towards the rumor that TVB internally decided to give Myolie Wu the TV Queen award? Charmaine said: "I don't think there is such thing nor will I say who I am supporting. They are all my friends, I don't want to offend anyone." She reveals she will make her greatest effort in scheduling time to take part in the February 2012 production War and Beauty 2.

Bowie Lam expressed producer Jonathan Chik has already called him about the War and Beauty 2 schedule. He said: "I hope to be part of the series too, but I am currently very tied up with work, it's not confirmed yet." When Heaven Burns is airing after the TVB Anniversary period, there is a conspiracy that TVB deliberately didn't want Charmaine and Bowie to participate in the TVB Awards, Bowie said: "Charmaine and I won't compete, after all in my eyes, When Heaven Burns is beyond Anniversary Series quality, and I hope the ratings can prove my views."

The other night at the TVB Anniversary show, Moses was asked to pick out Aimee Chan based on her ear, but almost got Aimee mixed up with Kate Tsui. He made Aimee get the wrong number and lost the chance to get the grand prize. He expressed he will give her a big Christmas gift to patch things up. As for the rumor that TVB decided internally to give TV King to Michael Tse? Moses laughed: "I'm not sure. I have been sitting in the cold seat for many years, the most important is for a good series!" As for When Heaven Burns, it was said the series reflects the band BEYOND? Moses expressed it's not related.

Bowie Lam disappointed, Kenny Wong upset 'When Heaven Burns' frozen for 2 years

TVB new series When Heaven Burns will be replacing TVB grand production anniversary series (FH3). The series completed filming and production 2 years ago, but the broadcast date had been left on hold all along. It wasn't until the two leads Bowie Lam and Charmaine Sheh leaving TVB that the company scheduled the series to air after the anniversary. Looks like the cast will just have to wait until next year to be able to participate in the TVB Anniversary Awards nominations.

Yesterday Bowie Lam, Moses Chan and Kenny Wong attended the promotional event for next week's broadcast of new series When Heaven Burns in Kowloon Bay. Lead actress Charmaine Sheh was absent from the promotion because she is busy working in Mainland. At the promotion, the two lead actors joined together for a band, singing, playing the drums and electric guitars. Bowie said: "I said before I will come out and help promote for every series I'm in. It is not because I don't have a contract with TVB that I won't promote the series. I am an adult, we aren't like that." Asked if this series should have been broadcast earlier? He said: "I Know everyone anticipates this series, and it should have been broadcast much earlier. I don't know though, this is TVB's arrangements. However, we all had our difficult times while filming and encountered a lot of challenges. I know we all want this series to air earlier too."

Does he believe it's because he and Charmaine Sheh left the company that TVB decided to air the series after the anniversary? Bowie laughed: "Then does that mean they are afraid of us? Afraid to provoke anger by the people! We never thought about this, why would this be! This is a TV rated series, perhaps the subject matter is a different type." Is Bowie disappointed that the cast won't be nominated for this year's TVB awards? He said: "What do you all think? Next year! However, the most important is to broadcast the clips one more time a month before the anniversary, so viewers can have a refresher. It is only when viewers can remember When Heaven Burns that will pull in votes."

Earlier Mona Fong and Bowie Lam appeared together at a cell phone event, but had zero interaction. Bowie clarified: "Mrs. Fong chatted with me. She even gave me a piece of crab meat to eat. We are good friends and are on good terms."

Kenny was asked if he's upset that the broadcast of this series was delayed? He said: "The series is about Rock & Roll. Of course there is happiness and unhappiness. Since last year when I heard the news that the series will air, I was very happy, but later it didn't happen, so I was a little unhappy. My emotions went up and down."

Moses Chan just said there are many people that think the main goal for this series is to get the awards, but he felt the series brings out the modern romance atmosphere. It is most important if the songs composed by Paul Wong can last until the Lunar New Year. He said: "The series is airing now is not because of Bowie and Charmaine. Why would TVB air the series when the two are not here! It is just a matter of timing. Even if the series airs now, I'll still be happy. Although people are unhappy about the broadcast period, we are still filled with confidence."

Tsang Sing Ming explains: Series broadcast late, continue TVB Anniversary Momentum
Spoiler:

Why didn't When Heaven Burns air despite having already been completed 2 years ago? Producer is Jonathan Chik, the cast is a 'golden' group of leads Bowie Lam, Moses Chan, Charmaine Sheh and Maggie Siu. So, just why did TVB have to wait 2 years before releasing it? Is the broadcast period already set when the series is produced? Or is it based on if the series ia grand production or low-budgeted series? Will viewers feel it's out of fashion?

TVB Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs (Tsang Sing Ming) explains. Each series broadcast period is based on a layout, influenced by two large factors. One, is to accommodate the sponsor's arrangements. Next, is to look at the if there are similar series airing, if so adjustments will be made. Mr. Tsang does not think When Heaven Burns is a low-budget production, but instead describes: "A big production should be scheduled to air during the finale period, and continue on the Anniversary momentum because this series will go on to 2012."

So why didn't this grand production air last year and had to be delayed for another year? Mr. Tsang said because last year there was No Regrets, therfore TVB scheduled When Heaven Burns to air this year. The momentum is just as strong for both. Asked if its because of Bowie Lam and Charmaine Sheh's departure from TVB that they decided to air the series now? He said basically when scheduling broadcast dates, it's not about where the artists are because no matter where the artists are, the series broadcast rights remains with TVB. Also TVB has a good relationship with Charmaine and Bowie, nor are there any damages in the relationship that will affect future collaborations.
