Synopsis of “Laughing Gor: Turning Point 2″; Film Rakes in $670k on First Day

Michael Tse’s (謝天華) new film, Laughing Gor: Turning Point 2 "Laughing Gor之潛罪犯" was officially released on December 29, 2011 in Hong Kong theaters. On the first day, box office sales were $670,000 HKD, which fell into second place behind Hollywood blockbuster Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Charter. Due to the Christmas weekend, Mission Impossible 4 accumulated $1.15 million HKD at the box office.

Towards the end of TVB series, Lives of Omission "潛行狙擊", “Laughing Gor” Michael Tse was sentenced to life imprisonment after murdering Bosco Wong’s (黃宗澤) character. In prison, Laughing met Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), a university professor imprisoned for drug possession. Despite the professor’s gentle and aloof exterior, he was a vicious, cold-blooded criminal. Furthermore, the professor was a criminal psychologist able to discern other people’s inner secrets and dark side. Due to such abilities, the professor was able to silently control others.

At this time, a mysterious woman, who worked for high level Security Police unit, visited Laughing in prison. Laughing’s imprisonment was spurred by his role in an undercover assignment. It turned out that another person was responsible for Bosco Wong’s death. Suspecting that the incident involved a corrupt police force, the Deputy Secretary for Security Police assigned Laughing to investigate the case while posing as an inmate.

Niki Chow shouts for Help when asked about Kevin Cheng

Michael Tse and Niki Chow accepted a CRHK radio interview yesterday. It was rumored Niki is being pursued again by ex-boyfriend Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh intends to ruin them by publicly glaring at Niki. During the interview, Michael teased Niki by taking the rumor to joke with. He asked Niki, as if he was a reporter, if she's dating her ex-boyfriend and then after 'lighting the fire', he quickly got up and left. This left Niki in an embarrassing position. She said Michael is speaking nonsense: "Help me! Can I not answer? Because which ever way I answer, I'll die. I won't answer anything regarding to rumors. (This means there is a chance to develop?) I just want to focus on my work, don't ask about relationships. In fact, the rumor has been disturbing me for several years, why can't it just stop. Aside from relationships, there are many other things Ican do. Work is my priority and I currently have no love life. I am concentrating entirely on my jobs."

When speaking of Producer Lee Tim Shing angered at the TVB Broadcasting department for pushing back Bottled Passion's initial October broadcast to the holidays period and thus resulting in poor ratings. Niki said: "There has been some affect. After all, there are many holidays and students have exams, but it is already pretty good to have this performance." Niki frankly said she feels thankful that Tim Gor gave her the 'Tsui Sum' role.

As for TVB series When Heaven Burns is banned from broadcasting in Mainland, Michael said: "To Hong Kong and Mainland, this isn't something new. Some songs and films have also encountered the same situation, but there hasn't been any distinct regulations, so will have to leave it to the production unit to explore an answer. This time, perhaps the genre is more sensitive and I also feel it's a pity. This is a reminder to the production team that these types of series and situations must be handled carefully in the future." Does Michael feel When Heaven Burns is of a sensitive subject matter? "If any TV series or film involves politics, it is considered sensitive in both HK and Mainland. (Will you avoid shooting these genres?) Leave it to the production team to decide. I am just an actor and should focus on giving a good performance and follow the script."

Michael will be heading back to Mainland during the Lunar New Year to shoot a series. Asked if he will decline to social gatherings in Mainland? Michael said: "No, it is actually strange and autistic to not go out. (Have you been influenced by Benny Chan's incident?) In fact, there are drunken cases all over the world, in which one does some silly thing that they don't usually do. It is not necessarily just Hong Kong artists. It is most important to have self-control."

Kevin Cheng & Michael Tse's 'fight' gets into Mainland

Earlier during the TVB Anniversary, TV King Kevin Cheng and Michael Tse were rumored on bad terms because of the fight for the TV King title. Recently, the two were in Hengdian to shoot new Mainland drama Hero. Yesterday the two attended the press conference and pretended to be on bad terms by glaring at one another, but then they started laughing not long after. Michael said: "Just looking at Kevin, I feel I really love him. I am also prepared the media will magnify the focus on us, but I am not worried at all!"

Kevin proved the rumors wrong by action and gave Michael a 'kiss'. He said: "Friends can be opponents too. There can only be improvement with competition." As for Charmaine Sheh is also shooting in Hengdian right now and earlier they had reconciliation rumors? Kevin said: " We are just good friends. If there is a chance, we can have a meal together. It's not like we did something that can't in the light." He believes the first thing to do when finding a girlfriend is to become good friends with them. He even boasted that he's a perfect standard boyfriend. [The Sun] reported earlier that Kevin will be pocketing 50 million in the coming year. Just shooting 3 Mainland dramas will earn him HK$3 million. He indirectly admitted: "I can just say I am very pleased, but I am not shooting this series because of the money, but because of the crew and the script."

Kevin Cheng and Michael Tse to Portray Rival Emperors in Mainland Series, “Hero”

In this year’s TVB Anniversary Awards, Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) beat Michael Tse (謝天華) in winning the Best Actor Award. Although the battle in Hong Kong had concluded, Kevin and Michael will relocate their battleground to mainland China. In new mainland series, Hero "英雄", the pair will be arch rivals and hold a battle of wits, with Kevin portraying Emperor Fuchai of Wu and Michael as Emperor Guojian of Yue during the Spring and Autumn Period (春秋时代)!

It turned out that the two good looking men, Kevin and Michael, never collaborated together at TVB. Hero will be the first time that the pair will be partnering together. At yesterday’s press conference for Hero, both Kevin and Michael wore a scarf over a light jacket. The pair often chatted with each other, appearing friendly together.

Michael Tse Unwilling to Fall Behind Kevin Cheng

In mainland, Kevin and Michael were often labeled as competitors. Although Kevin successfully won the TVB Best Actor Award, Michael boasted, “I did not lose in acting, but lost only in popularity.” With Kevin’s popularity rapidly rising in mainland China, Michael was unwilling to fall behind, “I hope that more people will get to know me after Hero. I am not worried about our acting being compared; I am only concerned that the performance will not be good.” It was understood that Michael Tse’s filming fee in Hero will be $150,000 Yuan per episode.

Kevin Cheng’s filming fees allegedly soared to $250,000 Yuan per episode in mainland China. Taking into account Kevin’s income from filming Ghetto Justice 2 "怒火街頭II", Hero, and the modern version of Bu Bu Jing Xin "步步驚心", Kevin was slated to earn $30 million HKD. Regarding his current filming fees, Kevin stated, “I am very satisfied, but the amount is not as exaggerated as the reports claim.”

Kevin Cheng’s Pure Friendship with Charmaine Sheh

The focus of the media yesterday was on Kevin and Charmaine Sheh’s (佘詩曼) recent reconciliation rumors. Both Kevin and Charmaine were currently filming in filming in Hengdian, China. Asked by reporters about the reconciliation rumors, Kevin said they were not true. “We have always been good friends and our relationship is not as described by the media. If the opportunity arises, we will have dinner together in Hengdian. We have a pure friendship and do not have anything that cannot see the light. It is fine even if we were to be photographed by the media!”

Other cast members of Hero include Ken Chu (朱孝天) as Fan Li, an advisor to the State of Yue. Newcomer, Li Sining (李斯宁) will portray Lady Ji Jiang, whose performance will be highly anticipated. Ying Er (颖儿) will portray the great ancient beauty, Xi Shi. Hero will be broadcast on Hunan TV station in China.

Michael Tse meets crazy Niki Chow, bickers and forgets his lines

Niki Chow and Michael Tse were shooting for TVB new series Policewoman's Love Battlefield yesterday. The story is about the two as a bickering couple. When they were shooting the argument scenes, Michael clearly couldn't complete with Niki as he often forgets his lines. Later, Michael laughs: "This role is perfect for her (Niki), she really is a little crazy. In fact, Niki has the talent for comedies. This is my first time collaborating with her and on the first day of work, I already had a very good feeling. I never had this type of chemistry happen so quickly. (You can't be her in those bickering scenes?) The more we argue, the more sparks we have!" In the series, Michael urges Niki not to start a 'sister-brother' love with her younger cousin, played by Matthew Ko. Niki was asked if she minds dating someone younger than her? She said: "I never experienced it before, don't know how it feels, but the most important is that we can communicate. The digits, figure, wealth or age are not important. It is more important to have those innate qualities."

Also, Michael was won 'Youku's Best Actor of the Year (HK) Award' earlier. Niki was asked if she 'forced' him to treat her a meal? Niki said: "Even if he didn't get any awards, I got a meal from him because earlier I recommended him a book, but I can make up by having a bigger meal later!" Michael just laugh: "We have to eat every day, we have to work every day." Since the two work so well together, when the series releases, they don't mind working as a couple team to accept shows, stage performances and opportunities to release music albums.

News reporter Michael Tse meets Policewoman Niki Chow

Yesterday Niki Chow and Michael Tse took part in the costume fitting of TVB new series Policewoman Love Battlefield. Niki appeared dressed in a complete policewoman uniform, which was 18 pounds in total. On the contrary, Michael who plays a director of a newspaper company had it easy. Niki said: "In the next 3 months, I will treat myself as a true policewoman. There are many things I have to pay attention to. I also wanted to salute to the women police officers because the training for women officers are the same as men officers. The female body is naturally cannot compare to a males. Fortunately, I can physically handle the training, but this is still a challenge for me (Do you have many action scenes?) It's not necessary for me to actually go chase thieves. There are just a few gun shooting and jumping off building scenes. It's quite interesting actually."

Michael said he plays a reporter this time, and is no longer required to be an undercover. It is only for work that he comes into contact with Niki (in the series). As to Niki's role was initially for Anita Yuen? Michael said: "Anita has her own style, and Niki also has her own style too for the portrayal of a policewoman. Niki played a female constable before, which is equivalent to the modern policewoman. Niki's acting is outstanding and is well-received by audience."

Michael does bike stunt with a P plate

Artists need to have many talents these days, with Chris Lai performing and creating the new generation of talented dancers; Micheal Tse is to perform a motorcycle stunt at this year’s TVB anniversary show. This stunt will include storming through glass and breaking through it. No doubt this stunt sounds challenging and frightening.

Yesterday Michael began to rehearse for this part of the show. He explained to everyone that he had got his motorcycle license when he was in his 20’s. At that time, he needed to concentrate on his dancing to earning a living and needed to ensure he suffered no injuries, hence, he gave up motorcycling as a sacrifice. Last year, he decided to learn it again.

During Michael’s rehearsals, it can be seen how serious he was. He was also doing plenty of warm ups on the bike. He expressed that he quickly became familiar with the motorcycle again, although the bike still have a P plate on, he expressed that he is confident with himself as well as with his rehearsal team.

Mentioning about Macy Chan’s car accident, Michael replied: “The weather that day was raining and wet and it was an accident. I think my stunt will be different and controlled. The company has got insurance for me and the team who I practise with are very professional and I have total confidence in them!”

In additional, Michael has insisted to perform his motorcycle live at the anniversary show and rejected director's suggestion to pre-record the stunt. Michael expressed that he will practice more as there is still time before the actual live show.
